TPACK: Will technology take over to where teachers aren't needed anymore? Children sometimes struggle with communication, will adding more technology further this issue? I think it might be hard for teachers to keep up with how fast technology changes. It might take teachers a little bit of time to get use to a program and then it'll change and they will have to start learning it all over again.
NET GENERATION: I have serious concerns with communication skills. I feel like there is going to come a point where students can't even hold a conversation because they are so use to communicating through technology. I think using technology in the classroom is a good tool but I think it should be limited. Will teachers become irrelevant to learning because students can learn everything online that a teacher would teach?
FIFTEEN: Would adding more technology effect students who are hands on learners? Sure, they are physically working the technology but its not the same as actually doing in class activities. If education becomes so revolved around technology, how will student figure out what they are passionate about/good at doing? How will student be able to get a job in the future if all they've done is be on their electronic device?
It is sad how consuming technology is becoming. These are very valid concerns. I hope that we will not lose our communication skills completely but it seems very possible. Technology is definitely not as beneficial for hands on learners. It is hard to understand something they are simply seeing. Hopefully as teachers we will be able to find the best mix of teaching with technology and traditional teaching.
ReplyDeleteTechnology is like a double edged sword, it can be so good and at times bad because of its unique challenges. As you said some struggle with communication, so are we making this problem even worse, I imagine we we would be for at least some students. We do need the technology in addition to hands on, not instead of hands on. I couldn't agree with you more.
ReplyDeleteI feel like in every generation communication skills are hit and miss. It comes down to a person to person thing instead of a whole generation.
