Technology is becoming a very large part of our every day lives. It allows us to access information that would previously require hours of research. Technology allows instant communication with people across the world, this allows scientist and doctors to collaborate to help solve problems. For example finding a cure for HIV will benefit people worldwide, but there are also some down side like the gene editing. I do not think being able to pick which trait your child will have is a good idea. If we are able to do that then every body could be created the same and no one would be unique. The most amazing part of the human race is that not one of us are exactly alike, we are our own people and we have different parts about us. Some of the inventions are amazing, if we were all alike we would have people thinking of amazing ideas to create new things. For example the glasses that allow the blind to see, how amazing is that? That is one good example of the use of technology, but the clinics that are completely computerized is not a good thing. If we were to use those clinics everywhere there would be so many jobs taken away, if the jobs are taken away no one will go to school to learn that job. If no one goes to school to learn that job and someday the computer crashes then how is anyone going to know what to do? I believe that technology is a great thing in moderation. It can do some amazing things and can benefit us in so many ways, but it can also hold us back if we rely on it for everything. Children need to learn how to communicate and do things without a screen being in front of their face. I have heard that children aren't developing correctly because they don't actually play and discover things, they just play games on their tablets. Children are our future, if they can't even communicate with one another how are they going to get through life? If children are raised to think that technology is the most important thing in life if/when they have children they will be raised the same way but it'll be worse for them. I personally think moderation is key in many aspects in life and technology is one of those aspects.

I agree technology is instant and is becoming a huge part of our daily lives. It is crazy the scientific discoveries being made and the tasks such as jobs that can be done with technology. It is heartbreaking to know that it can be so consuming and causes kids to miss out on nature. Moderation is certainly a great aid in helping with that issue.
ReplyDeleteModeration is the very key for technology being a successful addition in society. If only we would choose to not rely on it for everything maybe we could maintain our skill sets to pass down through the generations and through a collaborative effort see everyone receive good from one form of technology or another.
ReplyDeletehe scenes from "WALL-E" pops out when I read the article about the comfy chair. Technology has a great impact on our life: it facilitates communication and learning at some degree; however, it also distances human interactions. How technology can be applied efficiently and properly in educational settings will be an angle that teachers need to take into account.
